SARAH 1

Who makes up your family?

My husband, Matt; my Irish twin boys, Ford and Steele and my two rescue cats.

Describe yourself in three words?

Loyal. Creative. Dedicated

Tell us about you brand / Tell us about the inspiration behind your brand?

As a full time fashion merchandiser I have a good understanding of local manufacturing and a passion for locally made products.  I was pregnant with my first born and was disappointed by the lack of edgy and fashionable carrycots available.  I had seen amazing products on my overseas buying trips but couldn’t find anything great locally, at the time, so I decided to play around, sourcing and digitally printing suitable fabrics and hunting for the other materials I would need to put my first little “showstopper” together.  I wanted to break away from the status quo and provide creations that are very different, fashionable and that compliment or add to your decor.  Young moms want to be trendy and in touch with fashion, and still feel confident and stylish when they are out with their babies.  There are now so many amazing local brands that allow for this!

The biggest lesson you have learnt being a “momtrepreneur”?

There will always be competition no matter how unique your idea is to start with but if you work hard and wow your customer your brand will grow.

Why should one support local?

It’s important to help grow our local economy so that more entrepreneurs can succeed and support our own in South Africa.

What inspires you to get up each morning?

My family, they are my everything.

If you could change one thing in the world for your children what would it be?

To end all violence and hatred.  If people were kinder to each other the world would be a happier place.

SARAH
